Rename an account or change its color

Email accounts

Each account has a display name (what you see in Newton), a sender name (what people see when you email them) and a color. Change them on any device, and the change reaches your other devices too.

Steps

Desktop

  1. Open Settings: press ⌘, on Mac, or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux.
  2. Go to Accounts and select the account.
  3. Under Profile, click Edit next to Display name or Sender name, type the new name and click Save.
  4. To change the color, click Change next to Account color and pick a color.

iPhone, iPad & Android

  1. Open the menu and tap the Settings gear at the bottom.
  2. Tap Accounts, then tap the account.
  3. Tap Display name or Sender name, type the new name, and tap Save on iPhone and iPad, or the check mark on Android.
  4. Under Color, tap a color.

Web

  1. Sign in at account.newtonhq.com and open Accounts.
  2. Select the account.
  3. Under Profile, type a new Display name or Sender name and press Enter.
  4. Next to Account color, click a color.

Good to know

  • The display name shows in the sidebar and throughout the app. The sender name is what recipients see in the From line.
  • An alias can have its own name. When you send from an alias, its name is used instead of the sender name.
  • On desktop, clear the display name and save to go back to the name that came with the account.
  • A team shared mailbox's name and color are set by a team admin and apply to everyone on the team.
