When an email is written in a different language from the one Newton is set to, Newton offers to translate it. The translation replaces the message on screen, and you can switch back to the original at any time.
Steps
Desktop
Open the email.
Click Translate at the top of the message.
To see the original again, click Show original.
iPhone, iPad & Android
Open the email. A bar at the top of the message shows its language, for example "In French".
Tap Translate to followed by your language, for example Translate to English.
To see the original again, tap Show original.
Good to know
Newton translates into the language the app is set to. To translate into a different language, change Newton's language.
Only the newest part of the message is translated, not the earlier replies quoted below it. Very long messages are only partly translated.
The translation is plain text, so bold, links, tables and images aren't kept.
Translation uses AI: Newton sends the text of the message to its AI service. It needs an internet connection and has a daily limit. Very short emails don't show the button, because their language can't be told reliably.
