It’s been about two months now since Newton introduced Tidy Inbox. Apart from keeping my inbox clean it has also helped me:
You may be wondering how did it help me save some dough? Well, you see, I am impulsive and shop online a lot. Combine both of them, and we have a recipe for disaster! A simple email notification from PlayStation Network about a digital discount would trigger my I-gotta-buy-this bell, which would slowly eat up my bank balance. It’s good for PlayStation but not so much for me. I have found myself to be a victim of such mails on multiple occasions. With recommendation systems getting better over time the problem just kept getting worse. PlayStation wasn’t the only predator — Amazon, Myntra, DailyObjects and many others ‘victimised’ me too. Dailyobjects would even remind me that I had an abandoned cart (Abandoned: A profound word that evokes strong emotions; almost made me feel I sinned).
But all of this changed when Tidy Inbox came in. No more emails telling me I abandoned my cart, no more emails pestering me to buy something just because it’s at a discount. No more distractions. Just the emails that mattered to me the most. The trigger that would inevitably propel me into a shopping spree, was no more.
Never had I ever imagined that not getting notifications would help me maintain a healthy bank balance!
Tidy Inbox has done wonders for me and as bizarre as it may sound. It helped me save a lot of bucks.
