Undo send

Writing & sending

After you send an email, Newton waits 5 seconds before it goes out, so you can take it back. You can make the wait longer or turn it off.

Steps

To undo a send, click or tap Undo on the sending message at the bottom of the screen before the countdown ends. The email opens again so you can change it.

To change how long Newton waits:

Desktop

  1. Open Settings: press ⌘, on Mac, or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux.
  2. Go to the General tab.
  3. Under Sending, set Undo send delay to Off, 5 seconds, 10 seconds or 30 seconds.

iPhone, iPad & Android

  1. Open the menu and tap the Settings gear at the bottom.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Under Sending, tap Undo send delay and choose Off, 5 seconds, 10 seconds or 30 seconds.

Web

  1. Sign in at account.newtonhq.com.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Under Sending, set Undo send delay to 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds or 30 seconds.

Good to know

  • Sending waits because Newton's server holds your email for the delay, then sends it. Once you've pressed Send, the email goes out even if you close Newton.
  • If you tap Undo too late, you'll see Couldn't undo — the email is already sending.
  • The delay you choose applies on all your devices. The web portal offers 15 seconds, but not Off.
  • Scheduled emails don't use this delay. You can change or cancel them any time before they're sent.
