Tidy Inbox and Low Priority

Supercharge

Tidy Inbox keeps promotions, social updates and other low-value mail out of your Inbox. Nothing is deleted: that mail waits in Low Priority. It's on by default for accounts added since 10 Sep 2026, so check Low Priority first if mail seems to be missing.

Steps

Desktop

  1. Open Settings: press ⌘, on Mac, or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux.
  2. Go to the Supercharge tab, then Tidy Inbox.
  3. Choose the Account.
  4. Switch Promotions and Social on or off for a Gmail account, or Other (Focused Inbox) for an Outlook account.

To decide for one sender, right-click one of their emails and choose Move to Low Priority. In Low Priority, choose Move to Inbox instead.

iPhone, iPad & Android

  1. Open the menu and tap the Settings gear at the bottom.
  2. Tap Supercharge, then Tidy Inbox.
  3. If you have more than one account, tap the one you want.
  4. Switch the categories on or off.

To decide for one sender, open one of their emails and tap ••• › Move to Low Priority. In Low Priority, choose Move to Inbox instead.

Senders you move are listed under Always in Inbox and Always in Low Priority. Click or tap Remove to undo one.

You'll find Low Priority in the sidebar on desktop and in the menu on your phone. When it has unread mail, a bar at the top of your Inbox shows how many.

Good to know

  • Nothing changes in Gmail itself. In Outlook, moving a sender also updates Focused Inbox, so Outlook on the web follows it.
  • Low Priority mail doesn't send notifications.
  • A conversation stays in your Inbox if any message in it isn't low priority, such as a reply from a person.
  • IMAP accounts, such as iCloud or Yahoo, aren't sorted automatically, but Move to Low Priority still works. Each account can have up to 1,000 sender rules.
