What is Newton?

Getting started

Newton is an email app for the email accounts you already have. It brings them together in one inbox on your Mac, Windows or Linux computer, iPhone, iPad and Android phone. You can use Newton for free; Recap needs Newton Pro.

How it works

  • Your mail stays with your provider. Newton works with Gmail and Google Workspace, Outlook, Hotmail and Microsoft 365, iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail, Zoho, GMX and other IMAP accounts. Newton shows and sends your mail, and your provider still keeps it.
  • One Newton account. You sign in to Newton, then add your email accounts. Your accounts, settings and signatures come with you to every device where you sign in.
  • Tools for your inbox. Read receipts tell you when someone opens your email. Snooze hides an email until later. Send later schedules an email. Tidy Inbox moves promotions and social mail into Low Priority. Recap gives you a daily list of emails that need a follow-up.
  • AI when you ask for it. Write with AI drafts or rewrites an email for you, and you can connect Newton to Claude or ChatGPT.

To get started, download Newton, create your Newton account and add your email accounts.

Good to know

  • Newton doesn't support POP accounts or on-premise Exchange servers. Exchange Online works through Microsoft sign-in.
  • The desktop apps can do more than the mobile apps today. For example, the Agent is desktop-only.
  • account.newtonhq.com is for your account and settings. There's no web version for reading mail.
  • Newton needs an internet connection to sync, send and search.
