When your users get it

Everyone wants to design products that add value to those who use it. As the creators, there is a sense of satisfaction in realizing that your product is actually adding the value. You love it when a user gets exactly what you are striving for. And, you’ll love it more when they start broadcasting your product. Something similar happened to us today. A user on the Mac App Store left this heart-warming review for Newton.

“A stellar app integrated with exceptional productivity tools

Newton is a model of simplicity. Before I discovered Newton, I would write mission-critical email messages in a distraction-free text editor and then paste the messages into an email app. Newton’s composition screen is distraction free. Each message is formatted beautifully so that it can be read with ease. I have not yet encountered an email app with an interface like Newton’s that so effectively facilitates productivity. The user interface is designed to take advantage of simple mouse/keypad interactions or keyboard shortcuts elegantly.

It is helpful to think of Newton as an app integrated with a subscription-supported library of exceptional productivity tools. Newton’s subscription cost is economical compared with some alternatives. To achieve unlimited use of some but not all of the feature set of Newton in Apple Mail on a Mac, one might purchase an annual subscription to a bundle of plugins at more than the cost of an annual Newton subscription. And consider this: the functionality of plugins in Mac Apple Mail isn’t reflected across iOS devices. With Newton mail, all of the considerable functionality of its extensive library of features ripples across the entire Apple ecosystem.

Technical support is outstanding, responding usually within an hour. The tech support team helped me with an issue that has surfaced in some app-store reviews — searching. When searching in a gmail or google apps account, merely click on the tab “all mail” and search results populate the screen almost instantaneously. I retrieved a chain of 5 year old messages immediately after hitting “enter.” I have linked multiple accounts effortlessly to Newton and the volume of messages that I receive is substantial. I cannot imagine going back to any other email client solution.”
