Newton for Mac, Windows and Linux tells you when an update is ready and installs it when you restart. On phones and tablets, you update Newton from the App Store or Google Play, and Newton can check for you.
Steps
Desktop
When an update is out, a bar at the bottom of the window shows Update v… available. Click Download.
When the bar shows Update v… ready to install, click Restart Now.
If you click Later, the update installs the next time you quit Newton. If you closed the bar, use the menu bar instead: 🆕 Update Available › Download Update, then 🔄 Restart to Update › Restart Now. On Windows, press Alt to show the menu bar.
iPhone, iPad & Android
Open the menu and tap the Settings gear at the bottom.
Scroll to the bottom and tap the version number (Version followed by the number).
If you see Update available, tap Update to open the App Store or Google Play, and install it there. You're up to date means you already have the latest version.
You can also update Newton from the App Store or Google Play at any time, like any other app.
Good to know
After every update, Newton downloads your mail again. You stay signed in, and your accounts, settings, signatures and templates come back on their own. Your inbox can look empty for a moment.
Newton on desktop checks for updates when it starts and every 4 hours. There's no button to check by hand.
If you installed Newton from the Snap Store or the Microsoft Store, that store updates it for you.
